What Is The Newport Jazz Festival?
The legendary event, started in 1954 and know as the “granddaddy of all the festivals”, the Newport Jazz Festival is the iconic gathering of jazz music fans from around the US. Since its beginning, the Newport Jazz has hosted the prominent masters of the genre like Louis Armstrong, Dave Brubeck, Ray Charles and Duke Ellington. From August 2 to August 4, you’ll get a chance to hear the live music of Herbie Hancock, Kamasi Washington, Thundercat, Dianne Reeves and 57 other artists. The festival is located at the picturesque seaside in Fort Adams State Park, and shares the venue with other iconic event, the Newport Folk Festival.
