What’s The Hinterland Location?

This year’s festival takes place at the Avenue of the Saints Amphitheater 3357 St Charles Rd, St Charles, IA 50240, a naturally formed amphitheater that overlooks the beautiful Iowa landscape. It is about 30 miles south of Des Moines, Iowa and just a few minutes west of I-35. Festival map design by Scott O’Gara.

How to Get to Hinterland?

Here are the best options to pave your way to the festival.

  • By car: we recommend taking I-35 to Hinterland. Please note the peak travel times of 9am on Friday (for campers), 4pm-6pm each day and exiting the festival each night, so please plan accordingly.
  • Shuttles:Des Moines Shuttle NEW for 2024! Des Moines Shuttles passes are free for all ticket holders. Running daily starting an hour before gates until Midnight. General Parking Shuttle From the General Parking lot to the festival entrance. Free. Shower Shuttle Shower shuttle will be available from the showers to campgrounds for all patrons. For VIP campers, the shower shuttle will pickup in the VIP Campgrounds. ADA Accommodations The Des Moines Shuttle will have buses in rotation that have ADA accommodations. If you need to use the Parking Lot Shuttle or Shower Shuttle, please see a staff member or ADA Parking Lot attendant for assistance.
  • Bicycle: You are welcome to ride your bicycle to the festival. However, there will not be a designated bike parking area. Please plan accordingly by storing your bicycle at a camping spot.

Tips for Safe and Quick Way to the Hinterland Festival

  1. Traffic is subject to change, so be careful of the traffic jams, and plan your route wisely.
  2. Follow the signs and obey all the traffic laws.
  3. Not following instructions may send you driving in circles due to road closures, no left turns, etc.
